Good for you, good for them

All summer, we are giving money to Coffee Kids

Coffee is tough business. Specialty coffee is labor intensive, and physically demanding from the time it starts growing in Africa (or Indonesia, or South America, or Mexico… etc.) to the time it’s brewed for you. Roots Coffeehouse does everything possible to make sure that the people who grow our coffee make enough to provide for their family while they provide coffee for us. Our roasters in Nashville pay a substantially higher rate for our “green” (unroasted) coffee – about 30% higher and avoid expensive middlemen to make sure that money gets back to the farmers.

Every year, we publish the prices we pay for coffee compared with the going price for a comparable quality product. To us, you cannot separate the product from those who produce it. We believe it is more than worthwhile to pay a little more for a product that is produced in a sustainable and ecologically responsible way.

All summer, Roots Coffeehouse is giving even more back to those who grow your morning brew through our friends at Coffee Kids. Coffee Kids is an organization that works with coffee-farming families to improve their lives and livelihoods. See some of the work they do at CoffeeKids.org and come into the shop to find out more. See you soon!
